Laboratory

Usha Martin Group dedicates big efforts to R&D and technical services to stay on top of market needs and provide the best application solutions. A key factor for this purpose is to understand the characteristics of the existing products, assess their conditions after the end of the service life and therefore improve their performance or develop new ones. Our internal laboratory has been designed and it is continuously updated to match these needs. It consists of an 800 square meter area, equipped with the most modern devices, such as:

• Scanning Electron Microscope for metallurgical analysis
• Digital microscope for surface analysis
• 3 rotary fatigue test beds, up to 100 mm rope diameter
• Multipurpose test bed for axial stiffness, radial stiffness, torsion tests and crushing test
• Wire break and elongation test bed
• Wire torsion test bed
• Chemistry area for grease compatibility checks
• Multipurpose test bed for crushing test and Bending over Sheaves test

Other tests and inspections, such as measurement of breaking force and salt spray test, can be locally outsourced under the supervision of Usha Martin Italia team.
